About the event
Some children react very strongly to everyday expectations.
Getting dressed, starting homework, turning off a screen, or leaving the house can quickly escalate into intense resistance, arguments, or emotional explosions. Parents often describe their homes feeling like a constant battlefield.
For some children, these patterns are linked to demand avoidance, where everyday demands trigger anxiety and a powerful need to regain control. This profile is often associated with neurodivergence such as autism, ADHD, and anxiety.
In this workshop we will explore:
• What Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) is and how it presents in children
• Why traditional discipline strategies often escalate behaviour
