Welcome to Learning for Life, where we believe in the transformative power of support, guidance, and education. Our mission is to provide comprehensive counselling and developmental services for adults and children, addressing a wide range of needs to promote well-being and growth for all. At the end of our journey, we aim to see flourishing individuals and families who can communicate, cooperate, and grow sustainably together.

At Learning for Life, we offer tailored counselling for the various challenges people face from a very young age through adulthood, including life transitions, anxiety, trauma, and relationship dynamics. We are neurodivergence-informed and can provide focused and effective support to parents and children in families with neurodivergent members.

Our live parenting workshops, available in person or via Zoom, and our pre-recorded short courses equip parents with practical strategies and insights that can be immediately and easily applied. Our teacher training programmes help educators create inclusive and supportive learning environments. We collaborate with a network of professionals, including occupational therapists, speech therapists, and doctors, to ensure comprehensive support.

Family, and the well-being of every member, is sacred to us. It is our most precious privilege to take hands with you in your journey to foster mentally healthy individuals in thriving families!

The history of Learning for Life

Learning for Life was established in 2002, initially focusing on remedial education. As our understanding and expertise grew, we expanded our services to include child counselling and parent guidance. Today, we also offer adult counselling and various training programmes, reflecting our commitment to comprehensive support for individuals and families.

Our founder, Lourindi Nel, is the heart and soul of Learning for Life. Happily married and a mother to a 17-year-old, a 9-year-old, and 5-year-old twins, Lourindi has personally navigated the joys and challenges of neurodivergence, fostering and adoption. Her family’s experiences have deeply influenced her passion for helping children, adults, and families in distress to regain their footing and continue steadily on a path of growth.

Rooted in a dream to make high-quality support available in a sustainable and free-of-charge manner, the PARENT POWER HOUR, a bi-weekly parent guidance Zoom session open to anybody, was born just after the lockdown in 2020. In early 2024, we also began a monthly parenting article and a weekly parenting podcast in Afrikaans. This exciting project runs in collaboration with Maroela Media.

At Learning for Life, we are dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve, fostering resilience and promoting well-being for all.
